Overview
Sapphire offers improved optical performance and durability in imaging, camera, and sensing optics for cameras and devices working from visible through Short Wave Infrared – SWIR applications
Sapphire windows and arrays are offered complete with solderable metallization and double or single sided AR or filter coatings.
- Replaces many glass elements that could not survive processing without breakage or scratching
- Sapphire versions pass 10/5 inspection standards AFTER solderable metal and two side AR coatings are added
- Available in custom outer dimensions and thickness per customer specifications
Sapphire windows with solderable and brazeable metallization can be sealed in high vacuum and hermetically sealed applications
Sapphire assemblies are sealed with solderable metallization or brazed for the higher pressure applications.
- Hermetic and low pressure environmental protection sealing commonly done with solderable metallization combined with a range of end user specified solder options
- Sapphire offers very high pressure performance with reasonable window thickness & weight based on the much higher strength of sapphire – 6X greater than glass, fused silica, or quartz.
- Braze metallized sapphire viewports can be mounted in many standard vacuum and UHV flanges
- High pressure assembly versions also possible with metal and elastomeric/O-ring sealing designs
